    Abstract

    We present a formal approach to the study of evolution of biological pathways. The basic idea is to use the Beta Workbench to model and simulate pathway in connection with evolutionary algorithms to implement mutations. A fitness function is used to select individuals at any generation. The feasibility of the approach is demonstrated on the MAPK pathway. This is the preliminary version of a paper that was published in Theoretical Computer Science.
